OF SCENT & SPACE : MOIRE

Like perfumery, architecture has the transformative power to propel one to the future or remind one of a time gone by. In our latest series, we’ve decoded the link between our fragrances to architectural styles that reflect them the most.

Our female fragrance Moire is akin to an opinionated debate. Two strong ingredients, tuberose & leather, distinctive in their own right, converse & influence the other – evocative of the pull and push of grace & strength in Brutalism.

The architectural form flourished in the 1950s to the 70s and was characterized by its use of concrete. Though, at first look, it comes across as strong and fortified, it’s the little details in its execution that lend it grace.

For instance, note the elegant swirl of the staircase at the IIT Delhi – strength and beauty merge together harmoniously.

As seen in Brutalist structures, elegance is balanced beautifully, much like in Moire, as leather is balanced by feminine tuberose.
